Some Harry Potter movie 6 news.

This is mostly for Matt.

Well, the casting has been announced. They've announced actors for Horace Slughorn, Narcissa Malfoy and Lavender Brown, seeming to confirm they are in the movie.

And they announced to others: An actor playing 11 year old Tom Riddle and an Actor playing 16 year old Tom Riddle. So Matt, that pretty much confirms that at least SOME of the Penseive sequences are going to be in the film. I know you were worried about that, given the slashing of the backstory in "PoA." Still though, I wonder, what about the post Hogwarts Tom riddle stuff, when He was working at Borgon and Burks and asking Dumbledore for a job. Since the didn't announce a 20's Tom Riddle, that suggests those parts may not be in it. (Although, it may just mean they'll stretch the actor playing him at sixteen to do this early 20s stuff as well.)

Interesting!

Didn't they already have a girl to play Lavender in the third film? The news that they are recasting kind of ticks me off because in that film Lavender was played by a black girl. Are they going with a white girl for the recast? If so, I have a sneaking suspicion that they made that choice because middle America might have had a problem with an interracial snog-fest between one of the leads and a lesser known character. ESPECIALLY since Dean and Ginny already lock lips once in the story.

I thought they already had a young Tom Riddle actor for Chamber of Secrets. A recast is going to be jarring since we've already seen him at that same age. I'm guessing that they will stretch teen Riddle into young adult Riddle too. I think it would be cool of they used Raph Fiennes for the scene where Voldemort asks Dumbledore for the DADA job so we can see him before his final transformation.

Do you have a link for the casting news? Who are the people playing Narcissa, Slughorn and Lavender? And Tom Riddle for that matter? Will the writer's strike effect the movie production?

Lavender Brown is a recast. But I looked it up, and the former actress who played her in the 3rd movie, Jennifer Smith, was also white. So stop being condescending to Middle America. That's where I'm from and currently at, you know. Unless you just want to un-friend me right now.

Meanwhile... 16 year old Tom Riddle. In a perfect world, they would use the same actor. Ofcourse, in that perfect world, they would have filmed the HBP scenes back when they filmed CoS, in 2001, before HPB was written. Because that's they only way it would have worked. It's been 6 years. that actor has aged to much, hence the recast.

Style, you get worked up way too easily. I misspoke. What I meant was that the producers would THINK that middle America would have a problem with it. I seriously doubt if anyone would but studio suits always think the that people can't handle stuff like that and that's a big reason why you don't see a lot of color in big budget movies not starring Will Smith. People will go to see black leads in films but studios never think they will.

And according to the Harry Potter Lexicon the actress who played Lavender WAS black. I've seen her picture.
