I just saw part of a tailspin episode.
"For Whom the Bell Klangs" In case you don't know, it's pretty much the best episode of any animated cartoon show of all time.

Anyone know if it's currently on DVD?

It's coming out on DVD in November as part of the second volume of TaleSpin. Talespin is easily the Disney Afternoon show that has aged the best although Gummi Bears is still enjoyable too. I haven't seen the Klang episode in ages and I'm really looking forward to getting it.

Get Volume One if you have the money. They sell it for twenty five bucks at Best Buy.

Better than "Her Chance to Dream"? What's that episode about, anyway?

Baloo and Louie hook up with a female archaeologist who discover a lost city built on Harmonic principles. At the center is a giant sound weapon of incredible power, which draws the attention of Klang, a King Cobra wearing a large mettal suit to give him human proportions, which he then covers with cool black robes. I've always loved this episode because it has a striking look, a cool villain, and hilariously schlubby heroes. All Baloo and Louie care about is competing to impress the girl. It's great!

And I don't know what episode YOU'RE referring to. What was that one about?

Becky falls in love with a ghost who is a gentleman and has to decide whether or not to stay with him. She only says no after she remembers Molly needs her. Very sweet and sad episode.

What Matt said. I liked the whole ghostly mood throughout the episode and Becky came so close to staying with that ghost, I was wondering what would happen to her.

Talespin holds up ridiculously well, and the only reason I haven't been watching it on ToonDisney is because it's the Disney Afternoon show I'm most likely to get on DVD. This Klang one sounds pretty cool too. Having said that, I've always said "Hercules and the Arabian Night" is my nominee for best episode of any animated show of all time.

Meh. It's a crossover, therefore it's automatically disqualified from the running.

Funny you should say that, I disqualified it from being one of my favorite Hercules episodes for that reason. However, putting it in the "best episode of any animated show of all time" category felt appropriate to me (of course, there are still other episodes of other shows in that category).

I remember watching a TailSpin episode that just bowled me over (I think it was the one where Baloo forgets how to fly)--ToonDisney reaired that episode a while back and I noticed who wrote it: Alan Burnett! I don't know who wrote the episode you liked, but I'm curious...
